About
I’m an artist and nature mentor passionate about traditional mysticism, art and nature connection and their potential for healing and positive change.
Much of my work explores the structures and flowing forms found in nature and traditional Islamic patterns. I find within them a visual language that can express our inner symbolic landscapes.
I was born into an Anglo/American sufi Muslim family and travelled widely in my childhood, living around the UK, Texas, New Mexico, Andalucia and Jordan. I’d lived in 14 different houses and 4 different countries by the time I was 14! These diverse experiences of different landscapes, people and living in experimental mystical communities have all informed and enriched my work.
I studied art and traditional architecture at the Princes School of Traditional Arts when I was 19 and went on to study fine art at Northumbria university in 2001, I have been practicing as an artist ever since and have also worked as a nature mentor in the beautiful Ashdown Forest area of East Sussex since 2017.
